Pastor
L C Taylor
Loyd C. Taylor was
on born May 28, 1953 to his parents Otis and Arizona Taylor.
He grew up in North Carolina in a family of 11 siblings,
five brothers and six sisters. LC married his wife Katherine
Masters on March 28, 1972.
In 1973, LC and Kathy
became members of the Welcome Door Baptist Church in Kernersville,
N.C.
Kathy had been raised
up with the influence of a godly grandmother and as a child
she made a profession of faith. However for most of her
young life, she had true concerns about her relationship
with Christ. It was during an Easter service in 1975 that
Kathy finally settled her salvation.
LC had been raised
in a good Christian home with a very Godly mom and dad.
As a child, LC had also made a profession of faith and throughout
his young life, began trusting more and more in religion
and good works for his salvation. LC had done many church
related ministries, which gave him a false sense of security.
Only God knew the condition of LCs heart and it was
only through a miracle of grace that his lost condition
was detected and dealt with. After a number of years and
through some very unusual events, LC became a genuinely
converted on October 31, 1980.
LC and Kathy continued
to be active in their local church and intended to settle
down and raise a family. But, through comment of some family
members who lived up North and the testimonies of some missionaries,
the Taylors learned of the great need for Bible-believing
churches in New England. This weighed heavy on their hearts,
so after praying and wrestling with this burden they decided
go to New England to become church-planters.
LC was introduced to
the Evangelisms Missions Ministry, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
This was a mission agency whose ministry was to train, provide
support and encouragement to missionaries in order to help
them with their ministry. In 1980, LC and Kathy became missionaries
and joined the mission family of EMI.
In their passion to
get to New England as soon as possible and moving out of
state, LC did not have the benefit of being able to study
on campus in a Bible College or Seminary. Knowing the need
of being grounded in the Word, they researched ways to be
trained while still serving in New England. Kathy and LC
enrolled in the McDonough Bible College in McDonough, Ga.;
here they received their Bible Diploma. Later LC was brought
into contact with the Faith Theological Seminary in Milton,
Fla. This was a seminary designed to provide training to
those in full-time ministry through correspondence. LC looked
at this as an answer to prayer for it provided him the opportunity
to continue his studies while he was busy in church planting.
LC enrolled as a student at Faith Theological Seminary in
1981.
The Taylors moved to Woonsocket, R.I., rented an apartment
and began preparing to start a church. After canvassing
several areas, God led them to Franklin, Mass. In November
of 1981, LC and Kathy held their first service with a total
of five people present. The little mission church grew and
then in September of 1982, the Grace Baptist Church of Franklin
was officially organized.
On October 27, 1983
LC was ordained to the ministry through the Scenic City
Baptist church of Chattanooga, Tenn.
During this time the
church was being confronted with many spiritual and emotional
needs. LC was searching for a way to help in providing counseling
to those in trouble. Through a book given to him about Nouthetic
counseling, which LC later learned was true Biblical counseling,
LC enrolled in a counseling training program through the
Forestdale Baptist church in Forestdale, Mass. On November
30, 1987, LC received a Certificate in Basic Biblical Counseling
from the Forestdale, Counseling ministry. Along with these
studies, LC continued his counseling training and enrolled
with the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors. NANC
is a nationally recognized ministry, which provides more
in depth counseling training. LC later became certified
as a nouthetic counselor with the NANC organization. LC
is also a member of the Biblical Counselors Association.
In 1985 the Grace Baptist
Church was able to purchase a building and parsonage. The
church grew large enough to be able to support the pastor
full-time as well as helping to support about several missionaries.
In 1987 LC received
his B.R.E. from Faith Theological Seminary. He immediately
enrolled in their masters program with plans to continue
into their doctorate program.
In 1991, LC resigned
as pastor of the Grace Baptist Church of Franklin. He and
Kathy celebrated their last service on the churchs
anniversary in September. They then moved back to North
Carolina where they joined the Sedge Garden Baptist church.
In 1992 LC became the
pastor of the Tahlequah Bible Church in Tahlequah, OK. He
served there for about a year then in 1993 he resigned this
ministry and moved back to North Carolina.
In 1993 LC dropped
by Immanuel Baptist Church in Clemmons, N.C. Immanuel had
supported the Taylor family as missionaries. He learned
that they were without a pastor and they learned he was
with out a church to pastor. Later he was extended an invitation
to candidate for the pastors position. He was voted
in unanimously and became the pastor of Immanuel Baptist
church in March of 1994.
In 1998 LC completed
his studies and received his Doctorate of Ministry in Theology
from the Faith Theological Seminary.
LC and Kathy make their
residence in Clemmons, N.C. They are proud parents of four
wonderful children and their spouses. LC and Kathy are also
very proud grandparents of five beautiful grandchildren
and three step-grandchildren.
LC believes that other
than his salvation, the most precious gift he has received
is his loving and faithful wife Kathy.
LC and Kathy want to
thank God for the opportunity to serve Him through the ministry
of the Immanuel Baptist church. They believe they are truly
blessed and honored to be able to serve the great people
of Immanuel Baptist Church.
